David Schwab: Welcome to the Schwab Report. This is David Schwab. Today my guest is Dr. Jason Denise. Dr. Denise is a cosmetic and restorative dentist, and he joins me today from his office in Annapolis, Maryland.

I know that you treat patients of all ages, but what do you say to patients who come in, particularly in the case of dental implants, say, “You know, doctor, I think I’m just too old to have dental implants”?

Dr. Denise: I don’t think you’re too old if you still enjoy eating. Age should not be a factor in quality of life. So I guess that would be my question back, “If you still enjoy your quality of life then age should not be a factor. I could also personally tell you I’ve placed implants on both of my grandparents who are each in their late 70’s. And we did not think twice about doing that.” I don’t think age is a factor in the treatment choices or quality of life for my patients.

David Schwab: It’s interesting to hear you talk about this, because I think some patients when it comes to implants, they think there must be some sort of cut off, like 75 or 80 or some age beyond which you couldn’t have implants. But you seem to be saying that if everything else is okay you’re really not too concerned about the age of the patient, is that right?

Dr. Denise: No, not at all. We often hear this, but implants are still as successful in the ageing population.

David Schwab: I would like to thank Dr. Denise for joining us today. Dr. Denise is accepting new patients, and he may be contacted through his website annapolisdds.com.

This is David Schwab, thanks for watching.
